A compostable capsule for espresso

100% Italian, it embodies the values of circular economy and bioeconomics.

Made from MATER-BI, it is the result of research and development efforts that took over 5 years, involving the contributions of Lavazza and Novamont.
The capsule, once consumed, can be thrown in the food waste bin and sent for industrial composting along with the coffee grounds.
These are the reasons why the two Italian concerns have been named among the best concerns in the “Refuse and Resources” category of the “Sustainable Development 2015” award, promoted by the Foundation for Sustainable Development and Ecomondo – Rimini Fiera, with the participation of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, who presented a medal to the initiative’s authors.
