LCA: joint project for labels

At the last Labelexpo Europe FINAT (self-adhesive labeling industry association) and TLMI (North American Association label and packaging printers) presented the first results of the joint project of Life Cycle Assessment for self-adhesive labeling.

Entrusted to PRé Consultants BV, it will provide a complete picture of the life cycle assessment and environmental key points of this industry, creating a harmonized and shared approach. The two institutions are convinced of the importance of harmonization at the global level «to avoid China working in one way, Europe in another and North America in yet another. The entire supply chain is involved: the ink industry, OEMs, the field of adhesives and the converters themselves» explained Calvin Frost, chairman of the TLMI committee for environmental questions. FINAT and TLMI work groups have worked together for the first time on a project of this magnitude, that the two associations have funded «for the common good of our industry».
