Conai Prevention Contest: last call

July 31st, 2015 is the deadline for participating in the “Conai Prevention Contest - Making value of the environmental sustainability of packaging”.

The contest, in its second edition, will award Conai consortium member packaging manufacturers and users that, during the course of 2013 and 2014, put on the market the most sustainable and innovative solutions, in one or more of the following categories: reuse, saving on raw materials, logistics optimization, facilitating recycling, using recycled materials, simplification of the packaging system and production optimization.

Conai is offering 200,000 euro in prizes, 60,000 of which will go to the six most virtuous candidates.
To apply, just fill out the dedicated form, which can be downloaded from the Conai website: the proposals will be judged using the Eco Tool, an application that uses a simplified LCA analysis to calculate the effects of preventive actions implemented by concerns on their packaging solutions through a before-and-after comparison in terms of energy and water consumption and CO2 emissions reduction.
The first edition of the contest awarded 36 initiatives, which contributed to a significant reduction in environmental impact: a drop in CO2 emissions amounting to 34.5%, energy saving of 36.3% and water saving of 36.2%.
