The million-dollar mission of Flour Mills of Nigeria
Africa’s largest F&B sector companies are continuing to demonstrate their commitment to the fight against the coronavirus.
Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN), one of the country’s leading food groups, has pledged $2.8 million to the Nigerian Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID).
The group has also announced that it is procuring $1.5 million worth of medical supplies. This includes 331,000 pieces of PPE (masks, coveralls, protective gloves and protective eyewear) to guarantee regular use for 10,000 Nigerian health care professionals over two months.
It will also supply 35,000 swab testing kits and 75 ventilators.. Some of the supplies have already arrived from Dubai, the United States, Canada, Greece and China, and have been delivered to the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC). The company has also commenced an $840,000 food relief distribution activity for the most vulnerable communities across 12 Nigerian States.
