Solidarity projects to fight the pandemic in Vietnam
Vietnam’s largest dairy producer Vinamilk has donated 10 billion VND (around $430,000) to the country’s authorities for the purchase of medical equipment, including the reagents needed for quick coronavirus testing.
At the same time, Vinamilk donated a further $43,000 worth of food products including milk and probiotic drinks to frontline doctors and healthcare workers in Ho Chi Minh City. In a particularly praiseworthy initiative, Vinamilk employees have voluntarily contributed one day’s salary to support healthcare activities, while the company has organised a project called “Millions of footsteps push the COVID away” to encourage employees to sit less and walk more for a week to improve their health.
With every footstep the company will donate 100 VND to provide underprivileged children with face masks, hand sanitiser, food and other essential items. The programme target is 5 million footsteps, which will be equivalent to 500 million VND ($21,000).
