Community action in Puerto Rico
In a spirit of social responsibility, Puerto Rican rum producer Distilleria Serrallés has announced that it has refocused its manufacturing operations to produce ethyl alcohol (70%) for donation to hospitals and the public health sector.
This concrete response to the sanitiser shortage is a way of actively helping to tackle the health crisis currently facing the island. The product is not suitable for human consumption but is recommended by WHO for use as a sanitary agent and disinfectant for patients and clinical environments.
Distilleria Serrallés is one of America’s oldest family-owned companies with a more than 155 year tradition going back six generations. It is famous worldwide for its flagship product, the award-winning Don Q rum brand.
