COMEP joins Sidel group
Sidel, a manufacturer of machinery and equipment for blow moulding of plastic containers belonging to the Swiss group Tetra Laval, has announced the acquisition of Cognac Moules Emballages Plastiques (COMEP), a French company that produces moulds for PET.
Founded in 1998 in Salles-d’Angles in southwestern France, COMEP has more than 20 years of experience in the sector and supplies more than 4,000 moulds a year to customers worldwide.
The deal is part of the Parma-based group’s programme of expansion through mergers & acquisitions.
In October 2018, Sidel acquired the Treviso-based firm PET Engineering, an expert in branding, engineering and design of containers for the beverage industry.
“Today, by acquiring COMEP, we enlarge our set of capabilities even further and extend our mould and tooling portfolio to offer complete packaging solutions to our clients,” commented Pavel Shevchuk, Executive Vice President Services at Sidel. “Packaging is a key differentiator for our customers and COMEP perfectly complements our know-how.”
The French firm will maintain its operational autonomy with a separate channel to market while sharing best practices and capitalising on efficiencies.
