Beyond Meat begins production in Europe in partnership with Zandbergen

In response to demand from European consumers, the US firm Beyond Meat (NASDAQ:BYND), has expanded its partnership with the Netherlands-based company Zandbergen World’s Finest Meat to build a new facility for production of the brand’s innovative plant-based meats.

The plant, the first production capability outside the United States, is being constructed in Zoeterwoude in the Netherlands and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020. It will help to reduce the brand’s transportation footprint while facilitating Europe-wide distribution of the US firm’s products.

Beyond Burger was recently introduced by the retail chains Albert Heijn in the Netherlands, Delhaize in Belgium and Tesco in the UK as well as more than 3200 stores in Germany owned by the Lidl group.
