A masterbatch against counterfeiting

Grafe Advanced Polymers GmbH (in Italy at Turate, CO) has developed a new additive that finds use in the protection against counterfeiting of fibres and yarns.

The masterbatch, patent pending, is based on an original combination of chemical substances that can mark many different plastic materials (starting from PP, PA and PET) and are not destroyed by the normal thermoplastics process. They are also resistant to solvents, scrubbing solutions, dyes and other substances used in the sector. This product can be additivised with dyes and can be detected using XRF (X-ray fluorescent technology).
