Italians: reliable and proud
Editorial by Stefano Lavorini
These times it’s easy to be hyper critical about Italy, beset as it is by rifts that are difficult to heal and heavy contradictions. To say it outright, those who are pettily ironic about our private (and public) vices, have an easy time of it resorting to the many clichés that dog us.
When though we for our part envisage Italy and the Italians, we imagine a different picture, where we recognize the traits of tenacity, sacrifice, capability and reliability, the ability to know how to listen, the inventiveness of thinking up new solutions… In other terms, the scope of a long history that renews itself in big but aboveall in smallscale events.
The world of packaging too is not short of fine examples, as the company Zanasi* demonstrated, that recently celebrated 35 years of commitment in the coding and marking field, leaving the task of telling its history to its customers.
Nothing flashy, it was in fact a sober event - at the magnificent villa Marchetti, headquarters of Ucima - that had the flavour of things that are true, concrete and, for this very reason, of value: from the essential tale of a growth marked by the technological evolution of machines and inks, to the “product intuition”, that has allowed the company to consolidate its business and presence on the markets (Andrea Borsari), up to unrhetorical testimonies given by marking systems users, as well as the valuable update on the new prospects set by the European regulator, made by Giada Necchi of GSI Italy.
As attentive and as tireless as ever, company owner Gianni Zanasi praised the good teamwork and the capacity of his co-workers, many of whom young people with university degrees. Words subsequently corroborated by the testimonies.
- the coding solutions chosen have changed companies’ way of working, simplifying procedures, facilitating use, reducing footprint and bulk and making the end-of-line economical (Eugenio Poppi of Poppi di FRES.CO, fresh delicatessen products);
- the reliability and proactiveness of the development of a complex solution sexperimented in the field in over 2 years of fine tuning a new packaging item (Paolo Procella and Roberto Gasparoni of Palladio Zannini, cases for the pharmaceutical industry);
- the substantial benefits achieved with the changeover to inkjet coders with head toggle system, that enable the contemporary printing on 7 tube extruding lines: the result, 12 new systems have replaced 70 old stamping machines with rubber clichés, with countless advantages (Gianluca Casentino, L’isolante K-Flex, insulating material).
But beyond the rating of how good the single applicative solutions are, what has been made clear is what the users want, expect and demand from a supplier that can be considered a “partner”. Or that is aboveall helpfulness and capability that, in concrete mean, as well as a product of quality:
- professionality and intelligence in interpreting demands;
- the ability to study and achieve solutions tailored to suit the various needs;
- constant attention and presence during the development of the project and the start-up phase;
- timeliness of the technical assistance service;
- method and commitment in training machine operators;
Rounding things off, it was a convention of “content” and hence far off from
the self-celebration of results achieved that might have been expected. Indeed the encounter underlined some particular aspects of Italian inventiveness that though, in the case at hand, are a specific trait and pride of Zanasi. Congratulations.
