“Eco” aluminium: 70 points to be discussed
The representatives of 14 big aluminium users, that come under ASI (Aluminium Stewardship initiative, coordinated by IUCN) including concerns the calibre of Nespresso and BMW, Rexam and Tetra Pak, have highlighted a series of shared criteria, useful in defining the global standards for the production of sustainable aluminium.
These are 70 points, already avowed by authoritative civic associations, that will now be subjected to the judgement of all the operators involved.
«Comparing the experiences, so different from each other, of the various segments of the aluminium supply chain has been truly enriching - Giulia Carbone of IUCN states - and encourages us to proceed in this direction. For this we ask that anyone who has competency on the subject examines and comments ASI’s 70 points, in order to obtain the best document possible».
The consultation (online) is open until 29th May 2014 on the website http://aluminium-stewardship.org/the-process/get-involved.
