A pouch for Nespresso
Mondi goes evermore environmental and for Nespresso creates a pouch to contain used coffee capsules (but the product itself summarizes the many packaging skills acquired by the large integrated group).
Produced with FSC™ certified paper, made for more than 85% out of recycled material and in its turn 100% recyclable, the pack is covered with Sustainex®, the biodegradable, compostable and recyclable biopolymer developed by Mondi.
Thanks to the special adhesive strip, the pouch can be tightly closed; its good weldability, along with its grease and moisture barrier, ensures both safety and air-tightness, while the stiffness of the paper and the flat rectangular base confer stability.
The pouch was commissioned by Nespresso as part of a program that aims to recover used coffee capsules and reuse the aluminum; launched in 2009 in Austria, today more than 1,300 collection points with a recycling capacity of more than 84% are operational.
Integrated and “green”. Assisted by a complex R&D structure that includes a network of laboratories and development centers, the Mondi Group (active in the packaging and paper field) designs and produces packaging for all consumer and industrial market outlet sectors, fielding virgin and recycled ad hoc materials, and the functional characteristics required to suit the given brief.
The large integrated group is dedicating increasing resources to the development of sustainable packaging and reducing the environmental impact of its processes. Significant in this regard, the collaboration with WWF International, started up in February 2014 with the aim of improving the management of natural resources (water and forests primarily) and encouraging sustainable practices in the industry.
