A “red dot” for Speedstar™ Diamond

Robatech wins over the jury of the prestigious Red Dot Award in the product design category , thanks to its Speedstar™ Diamond series of hot melt adhesive application guns: an award given for the development and production of adhesive application systems.

At the 2012 edition of the international "red dot award" 1800 producers and designers from 58 countries took part. The award, which represents a sort of quality seal for design and sustainable development, is promoted by the North Rhine-Westphalia Design Centre. A jury of 30 made up of leading international experts had the difficult task of examining 4515 products, on the basis of several criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, self-explanatory qualities and ecological compatibility. The electromechancial Speedstar™ Diamond applicator guns manufactured by Robatech featured among this years’ winners.
 
Guns at the museum. Together with other products of excellence, the Speedstar™ Diamond guns will be exhibited at the "red dot design museum - Design on Stage winners of the red dot award: product design 2012", which is located within the Zollverein Collieries(Essen), one of the most impressive in the first half of the 20th century and, in 2001, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. With over 1500 exhibits over an area of more than 4000 square meters, it is the largest contemporary design exhibition worldwide. The winners of the red dot design award will be on show from July 3rd 2012 for 4 weeks in a dedicated area of the museum, before becoming part of the permanent exhibition.                      

Adhesive application: new standards
Speedstar™ Diamond applicator guns convinced the red dot jury for many reasons, such as for speed, durability, accuracy and safety. Extremely short operating cycles enable the dispensing of up to 800 dots per second. Robatech has managed to effectively combine speed with efficiency and resistance to wear: despite reaching temperatures of up to 185° C and viscosities of up to 2500mPas, the Speedstar™ have a life expectancy greater than traditional versions and - thanks to the innovative patented moving shutter - they permit electronic monitoring of the activity performed, as well as the constant autoregulation of the pitch.
 
Ecological, safe, smart. Unique for precision and accuracy, they enable the application of extremely small-sized dots, which means less glue consumption. The Speedstar™ are fully insulated with a special plastic case (like the Diamond SX series), to significantly improve energy efficiency and protect the operator from the danger of burns. Furthermore, the new heads have an extremely reduced thickness, thus allowing the installation in confined spaces and the realization of multi-module guns with very short distances. The operation is continuously monitored by the integrated electronics, which in practice reduces to zero wear and defects. Lastly, using the integrated counter, maintenance operations can be scheduled: The LED display provides an absolutely reliable indication of state.
