Sacmi’s new business unit for rigid packaging launched

RigidPackagingTechnologies is Sacmi’s new business unit dedicated to technologies for the rigid packaging sector (caps, preforms, containers, quality control and assembly).    

The aim of the operation: to create more effective internal synergies, flanking the historic businesses with new areas linked to post-processing, strengthened following the acquisition (in 2020) of Velomat, specialized in the design and construction of high-speed assembly machines, for cap closures, micro-pumps and medical equipment.

An integration that has allowed the Imola-based company to expand its proposal with multi-line and multi-materials solutions.
High-weight, tethered caps, integrated capsule-preform design, in-line computer vision systems that exploit predictive and artificial intelligence algorithms will be the main trajectories on which the Business Unit will be moving during 2021, in the light of a technological proposal strengthened in every single business area-sector, starting with those areas in which Sacmi is a market leader, such as the new generation of CCM mono and multi-layer compression presses, the technologies for the production of PET preforms (IPS) and PET, PP and HDPE containers (CBF, blow moulding, form-fill-seal, with synergies extended to the Sacmi Beverage world).

A wide-ranging and articulated offer that, together with plastics, also involves the production and quality control of metal packaging, research into alternative materials to plastic such as cellulose and other future developments that the international packaging industry will be called upon to address in the coming years.
