Skanem: 30 years of Fujifilm inks for narrow web printing
The UK branch of Skanem, a leading European manufacturer of self-adhesive labels, is a major user of Fujifilm inks, from the range of screen printing inks adopted in the 1990s through to the Sericol Flexo JD series introduced in 2007 and still in use today.
The Cardiff branch lists numerous benefits of Fujifilm inks, including faithful reproduction of branded colours, outstanding colour consistency, strength and vibrancy, and above all the ability to achieve bespoke colour matches first time, cutting the time-to-market in the label development process.
Fujifilm inks offer a wide and diverse colour palette, higher quality metal effects, solid whites, and by using denser ink pigments, less overall ink usage, which is better for the environment. This is a very important issue for Skanem, which has developed its ‘‘Sustainable Labels, Designed for Recyclability’’ programme to help customers design their packaging with recyclability in mind. Here too, Fujifilm inks make an important contribution. They are supplied with minimal packaging, in practical plastic and metal tubs which are easily stacked and simple to recycle, saving space and avoiding waste.
As a producer of self-adhesive, linerless and smart labels, alongside flexible packaging film, Skanem has an international reach, with production sites in the UK, Scandinavia, Poland, Asia and Africa. Skanem produces millions of labels every day for over 3,000 customers worldwide. The Cardiff branch specialises in labels for over-the-counter pharmacy products, beers, wines and spirits, household cleaning products, skin care and cosmetics, as well as for the motor industry.
