De Cecco announces 2021-2025 business plan

Following a €70 million investment focused on the Ortona factory and 60 new hires, the group’s pasta production is set to reach 250 million kg.

De Cecco, the well-known Italian pasta producer based in Fara San Martino in Abruzzo, has planned investments of €70 million for the five-year period 2021-2025.

The business plan includes a significant increase in production capacity to reach 250 million kg of pasta and 50 million kg of other products (oil, ready-made sauces, red sauces, bread substitutes), compared to the current 200 million kg of pasta and 30 million kg of other items.

The growth projects focus specifically on the Ortona factory, where the group will invest €30 million in new plant and a further €10 million to expand the facility.

At its historic production site in Fara San Martino (Chieti), the group will also invest €10 million in new technology and €20 million on the new oil production plant.

The group has also drawn up a plan to recruit 60 new employees: 30 in 2021 and a further 30 over the following three years.

This is not De Cecco’s first expansion project of this kind. In 2013, the group significantly increased its production capacity with the opening of two modern production lines in Caldari di Ortona in the province of Chieti.

This year the group is expected to post a turnover in excess of €510 million and is forecast to reach €650 million within five years. Almost 11 million Italian families buy De Cecco products every day, and the group is seeing strong growth in foreign markets, particularly the United States and Germany.
