Lockdown prompts surge in Italian frozen food consumption
Frozen food sales saw sharp growth in Italy during the lockdown. According to Nielsen data, purchases were up 48% in the first few weeks of March compared to the same period the previous year.
The growth trend applied to a wide range of food products, including vegetables, fish and traditional items such as pizza, which according to Ismea saw more than 54% growth between mid-February and mid-March.
