Nespresso expands the capacity of its Romont production centre
Nespresso has announced an investment of CHF 160 million to expand its production centre in Romont, Switzerland with the addition of a second production hall.
The expansion will introduce 10 new production lines for the Vertuo and Professional ranges and will create 300 new direct jobs in the next 10 years.
The aim of the investment, writes the company, is “to meet increasing consumer demand for its high-quality premium coffees and support international development in the coming years”.
The Romont plant, opened in 2015, was the first production centre (and consequently the first Nestlé factory) in Switzerland to achieve LEED® Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
The new production hall, which is expected to be fully operational by June 2022, will be built according to the same principles.
In addition to its ongoing business investments, over the last 10 years Nespresso has invested CHF 700 million in its three production centres in the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg.
