Sidel reorganises production to supply 20,000 PET bottles a week to the French health system
Sidel is joining the fight against the health emergency by transforming its centre of excellence for PET packaging in Octeville-sur-Mer, France into a small production centre to make bottles for hydro-alcoholic gel.
An initial batch of 5,000 PET bottles (size 500 ml) has already been supplied to Dijon hospital, while a further 1,000 bottles of size 200 ml have been distributed to pharmacies and hospitals in the city of Le Havre (Normandy).
“Thanks to their collaborative skills and an agile and creative approach, our employees succeeded in transforming our centre of excellence into a small production centre in just two days. Our weekly production capacity is up to 20,000 bottles”, said Vincent Le Guen, Vice President Packaging at Sidel.
The 500 ml bottles are made from an existing Sidel mould, while the preforms were provided by a key beverage player. The sport caps supplied by a cap manufacturer are ideal for controlling the gel flow and keeping it safe.
The company is prepared to support other companies that require moulds for the production of bottles on their packaging lines.
