The Tunisian agri-food sector weathers the storm

The Bizerte Agri-food Technopole has conducted a study to assess the impact of Covid-19 on the Tunisian agri-food industries.

Out of 70 companies operating in the sector, 52% of the sample interviewed expect to see growth over the next six months. The survey showed that unlike other sectors, the Tunisian food industry has not been particularly affected by the lockdown measures, although it has suffered from labour shortages.

The study shows an increase in turnover of 60% of the sampled companies operating in the cereals and derivatives sector, while 80% of these companies expect to see further business growth in the near future.
