Goglio: ISCC certification, a plus for all European plants
Thanks to DNV's certification, Goglio can produce packaging and valves with certified material derived from renewable sources alternative to fossil sources.
Goglio, a leader in the international flexible packaging market, has obtained ISCC Plus certification from the International Sustainability Carbon Certification, a multi-stakeholder organization established to support the transition to the circular economy and bioeconomy. Issued by DNV - a third-party entity that provides assurance, certification, verification and risk management services - the certification allows Goglio to produce its wide range of flexible packaging and degassing valves also using bio-feedstock derived from renewable sources alternative to fossil fuels because it is created from waste oil, residues from food companies and the paper industry.
Because of its unique composition, the ISCC Plus certified material can also be used to produce food-grade packaging. ISCC Plus certification also makes information about the share of non-fossil raw materials used to produce packaging and valves, which will accompany them throughout their lifecycle, from production to disposal. Thus continues the commitment under the banner of sustainability that Goglio has been pursuing for years with numerous initiatives aimed at limiting its environmental impact, starting with the improvements made to the HQ in Daverio with the recovery plant for solvents used in the plant, active since the 1970s to reduce atmospheric emissions, and the gas cogeneration plant for the production of electricity and thermal energy, created in 2015 to decrease the carbon footprint of the entire production process.
In addition, the Group continues to work on its ever-widening range of sustainable packaging solutions, which it develops and produces in monomaterial "ready to recycle" and compostable versions, seeing sustainability, an indispensable pillar of its entire production cycle.
