Focus on corners and edges

DeltaPac is the most recent sensor developed by SICK, able to detect with extreme reliability objects that flow in processing streams even if very close to each other, facilitating counting and tracking operations without having to separate the same.

This means no longer having to mount photocell reflectors or other types of optical sensors, even making redundant the design of mechanical separators requiring constant maintenance monitoring.

Based on the patented SICK “Delta-S-Technology®” optoelectronics solution, DeltaPac is a viable alternative to these systems and optimally expresses its potential where edges are to be located, opening up new opportunities for packaging machine manufacturers.
The mechanical separators become superfluous, entailing cost savings and an increase of available space within the machine, the reduction of collisions during the production flow are minimized and downtime is slashed; incorrect loading at cluster points is also avoided along with any quality loss caused by impact between objects. All this results in optimization of times, energy and the efficiency of the selfsame packaging machine.

Patented technology Delta-S-Technology ® uses a powerful emitter that has four 3 m/s. Point 2.0, Pin- LED, with emission energy comparable to that of a laser, combined with a SIRIC® an ASIC technology patented by SICK. Comparing the luminous energy from the right or left side of the edge, the receiving apparatus is able to understand whether the edge itself has been exceeded or not. It is a system of receivers designed to evaluate the luminous differential through the edge which delimits a container on the other side, while they pass paired along the line. The edges of objects (from 2 mm to 20 mm radius) are reliably identified. DeltaPac recognizes even the slightest edge change and identifies up to 200,000 pieces/h at speeds up to 3 m/s.
