Zanasi launches its Z640Plus at Drinktec

The industrial high definition printing system Z640Plus devised by Zanasi redefines the graphics and communication standards on secondary packaging.

Sassuolo, 02.08.2013. Zanasi, leader of industrial ink-jet technology, announces the global launch of the high definition printing system Z640Plus, designed for transferring images onto porous and non-porous secondary packaging substrates. The new Z640Plus coding system is the first of its kind to provide independent printing on two production lines for side and top coding of up to 102 mm, the top industry print height.

Z640Plus: form and substance
The innovative Z640Plus inkjet uses the new fast-drying and high contrast patented inks to reproduce any type of wording, graphics or barcodes in ultra-high resolution on porous or non-porous packaging substrates, including high-quality standard of GS1 barcodes.
The advantages are not only in the improved visual appeal, this technology can help companies print, implement and guarantee GS1 traceable solutions while reducing storage of the various forms of packaging down to a minimum, including coated corrugated boxes and shrink-wrapped trays, now not necessarily personalised in the preprint phase.
Direct printing of barcodes on outer packaging using inkjet printing systems is now recognised as the most cost-effective method. Purchasing a single printhead for the two different applications (porous and non-porous) enables savings of up to five times the cost of labels.
This approach also generates savings in terms of employee training, spare parts and expenditure in consumables.

The Z640Plus system is the first in the industry to feature a double headed connection that allows for simultaneous and independent coding on two separate production lines. The unique system enables printing on two sides of a single package and for side and top coding up to 102mm,  the top industry print height. Z640Plus is equipped with an industrial PC board (Windows 7 Embedded), featuring a fast and reactive user interface with unrivaled 12,1” SVGA full colour touchscreen panel and an Industrial SSD (Solid State Disk) Hard Disk that is more durable than a regular hard disk, offering a state-of-the-art high-definition technology.
The system is provided with an easy message creation with enhanced and powerful programming software and simplified images and  text formatting with Stretch and Drag&Drop functions, well- known and used in the most common devices such as smart phones.

The core of system Z640 is the printhead, with its unique stainless steel printhead nozzle plate that can be easily inspected and repaired, ensuring reliable high-quality print and further cost savings compared to disposable printheads. Furthermore, the Z640Plus’s durable industrial design comes with a unique three year warranty.
Many printheads have a demonstrated lifespan of over 10 years. Assuming two shifts per day x 300 days of printing per year x 10 years this equals 300 Billion firings per channel. By comparison, other piezo inkjet printheads typically last for 20 - 50 billion firings per channel. Trident printheads last up 6 - 30 times longer than other piezo inkjet printheads.
