Upfield Group to invest €50 million in plant-based foods
Upfield Group is planning to invest €50 million in a new Food Science Centre in Wageningen, Netherlands.
Thanks to its state-of-the art equipment and technology and an inspiring and creative network of individuals, the centre will research and develop new plant-based foods that are beneficial to the health of humans and the planet.
Wageningen is considered the Silicon Valley of the food industry and a world-class location for food innovation thanks to its proximity to the Wageningen University & Research (WUR), which is ranked as the world’s leading University in Agri-Food.
Upfield specialises in the production of spreadable creams, cheeses, butter and vegetable margarines and is known in particular for the brands Flora, Violife and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.
The new centre will be operational by the end of 2021 along with the new global headquarters the company intends to open in Amsterdam and which will bring together associates who are currently located in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
