Meadow Foods invests £4 million for new plant-based facility
UK-based dairy group Meadow Foods is investing £4 million in a new facility for the production of plant-based milk alternatives including creams, yoghurts and custard, as well as oat, rice and coconut-based drinks.
Building work began at the Chester site in January 2020, with production expected to begin before the end of 2020. The company’s strategic goal is to expand its product range into the complementary plant-based segment, which is highly popular with consumers.
The project follows the recent acquisition of Nimbus Food (October 2019), a manufacturer of inclusions, decorations and toppings for the food industry. However, dairy remains the core business of the group, which invested £6.8 million last year to increase capacity and improve efficiency.
