Ferrero ups production of Nutella Biscuits
In February, the Ferrero facility in Balvano (Potenza) used for the production of the hugely popular Nutella Biscuits will switch from three daily shifts from Monday to Friday to a 7-day-a-week continuous cycle, allowing for an approximately 40% increase in production.
The boom in sales recorded in Italy just one month after the product was launched (4.173 million packs sold) has prompted the Alba-based multinational not just to expand its workforce (from 314 to 454 temporary employees + 59 long-term seasonal employees) but also to increase the production capacity of the innovative line, installed in January 2019 for an investment of €120 million.
Maintenance engineers are currently at work installing a second filling machine which according to estimates will boost production by 2,000 pieces per minute to reach a total of 6,000.
