Labels in digital: Braille and UV inkjet
Sole agent for Italy for Durst Phototechnik SpA Label Printing, DG Italia, Spartanics, ETI Converting and Convertec, at Pharmintech Lirmaprint (supplier of complete solutions for the converting, printing and finishing of labels and flexible packaging, based in Agrate Conturbia, NO) presented a series of leading edge proposals for the pharmaceutical sector.
We highlight, among others, two systems for label printing.
• The DigiBraille unit developed by Convertec for inline digital printing of Braille lettering ensures the highest quality of performance, with well-defined dots and clear even on booklet. It is structured so as to significantly reduce the amount of waste, with setting times shorter than 5 minutes and without the need of tools, and can be easily fitted on any printing and converting line. It operates at a speed of over 70 m/min.
• The Tau 330 digital UV-inkjet press by Durst Phototechnik SpA Label Printing, ensures a “Best in class” image qualità, achieved thanks to Durst’s proprietary Single Pass UV Inkjet Technology. This technology features Xaar 1001 print heads with a physical printing resolution of 720x360 dpi with drop on demand, variable drop size and grayscale technology that results in an apparent image resolution of over 1,000 dpi.
Tau 330, with a width of 330 mm and a printing speed of max. 48 linear meters (157 lin. Ft) per minute, reaches an industry-leading hourly production capacity of 950 m². Its standard color configuration CMYK can be completed with optional WHITE and two optional process colors Orange and Violet (availability late 2012), essential for label applications that require precise pantone color matching. Furthermore, the standard configuration also includes industry-leading RIP software with built-in substrate management and color management. Tau 330 also displays the high speed Variable Data Print option with “insetter” functionality to print on pre-die-cut or pre-printed labels, thus allowing full label-to-label variability.
