Buitoni invests €50 million in its Benevento plant

As part of a recovery plan involving investments of more than €50 million, Buitoni (Nestlé group) has completed the renovation and expansion of its historic pizza production plant in Benevento.

The aim of the investment is to transform the site into an international hub for exporting this iconic Italian product to markets all over the world.

The plant has three latest-generation lines, three new warehouses and a production capacity of 350 pizzas per minute.

The fully-industrialised production process simulates all aspects of artisanal pizza-making, using for example an innovative “sauce-spreading” robot.

The only system of its kind in Europe, this robot uses a mechanical arm and an optical vision system to calculate the precise centre of the disc of dough and distribute the tomato sauce uniformly using a rotary action that mimics the manual movement of a human operator.
