For more than 40 years now, Fontana Grafica has been a specialised supplier of top-quality packaging materials. The Milan company is a partner of Winter & Company, and is the exclusive distributor of its materials in Italy.

At Packaging Première & PCD, Fontana Grafica has showcased the Winlay brand products, which offer a sustainable, plastic-free cellulose pulp packaging solution. The products are made entirely from re-growing natural resources and valuable recycled fibres, and is fully recyclable with the paper recycling stream. The production process for the packaging starts with the sketch or drawing provided by the customer, followed by the study of a prototype and then the final packaging. On request, hot foil stamping or silk screen printing decoration options are available.

No glue. One of the Winlay products on display in Milan was the packaging of the Zara fragrance ‘Freaking Gorgeous’:

«A very smooth pack» explained marketing manager Maria Antonietta Savino, «because it is moulded with damp cellulose pulp, which was then embossed on the inside with the drawing supplied by the customer. This packaging is fully recyclable, and can be disposed of in the paper bin, and there is no glue; everything is done with the stamping process. The two halves are closed using the barcode label».

From the bottom of the ocean. Particular attention was also paid to Toile Ocean, a material with a natural appearance and pleasant feel, made from plastic recovered from the ocean by the #tide organisation, available in 10 colours. Toile Ocean is made from plastic collected in particular from the seas of South-East Asia, which is then washed, compressed into granules and then spun into yarn.
