Ferrero makes major investment at its French site
The Alba-based multinational is expanding the production lines at its Villers-Écalles site where a quarter of the world’s Nutella is made.
Ferrero is planning to invest a total of €36 million at its French plant in Villers-Écalles, Normandy with the aim of upgrading the Nutella production lines and increasing the production capacity of Kinder Bueno by 8%. It also intends to start up a logistics depot to boost storage capacity by 30%.
France is Ferrero’s third largest market after Germany and Italy, with Nutella holding a two-thirds share of the sweet spreads market. In the last ten years, the Alba-based giant has invested €135 million in the country and is anticipating 6% growth in 2022 to reach a turnover of €1.4 billion.
The multinational is planning two major ice cream and biscuit launches by the end of the summer and will be investing €2 million in projects to raise nutritional awareness and promote sports participation as part of its commitment to responsible consumption.
